Background
Our client has a current requirement for a Senior Analyst Developer - their core output will be changing due to support a digital market and they will be strengthening their capability to manage and deliver information systems for the production of digital solutions to support a digital market. They are transferring the development from and external provider with the vision to support it internally in the future. To achieve this vision, they must enhance their information systems development into a core capability. Another key objective will be supporting the Systems Development Integration Capability Project (SDIC) in implementing Agile development.
Main Duties/ Responsibilities
• The design, code, test (unit test), correction and documentation of software applications of various scales and complexities • Support of developed applications and enhancement of existing applications • Provide technical advice to internal and external customers • Analyse customer requirements and problems, then generate potential solutions • Document changes to the system and application architecture overviews • Develop relationship with System Owner, Key Users and Users for their allocated systems.
Skills/ Experience Required
Essential Skills a. Development of multi-tiered application architectures, including: i. Application development on database, application / web server and user interface tiers, predominantly using Microsoft platforms and languages ii. Experience in design and development of process-orientated or case-management applications b. The application of a number of the below following technologies: i. Data layer: • Physical schema design • Logical schema design • Choice of locking strategy • SQL • Object-relational mapping (e.g. LINQ to SQL, Entity Framework) ii. Application layer (business logic, integration, workflow, reporting, authentication) • .Net 2.0 - .NET 4.0 or later (C#, WCF for web services) • Business process management, particularly based on Workflow Foundation, for example K2 • WS-• standards or RESTful web services • Kerberos, Active Directory • Caching technologies and approaches iii. User Interface layer • ASP.NET MVC and Web Forms, HTML, JavaScript • MS SharePoint Services; SharePoint Portal; Web Parts iv. Data transfer and manipulation • XML; XSLT, XPath, XQuery v. Test-driven development • Unit testing and unit test tools • Automated test tools and methods vi. Build and Continuous Integration tools and environment tools • SubVersion and Jenkins or equivalent • VMWare Lab Manager It will be beneficial, but not essential if the post-holder has: • Agile software development methodologies and knowledge of SharePoint platforms • Experience of working within a service delivery environment with a good understanding of the ITIL framework.
Formal Qualifications Required
Desirable Qualifications ISEB Certificate in Systems Development Essentials ISEB ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management Tool/product/platform specific accreditation as appropriate, such as: • MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) • MCPD (Microsoft Certified Professional Developer)
Additional Information
This role is based in Taunton with no travel expected. The role will be 6 months initially.
