Background
Capita are recruiting for a Procurement Advisor to join our Central Government client based in Leeds on a Contract, initially until the end of September 2012. The purpose of this role is to work as part of the centralised procurement function, managing smaller procurements, maintaining the systems and processes and letting contracts. Experience within the healthcare sector is desirable.
Main Duties/ Responsibilities
• Manage all non-catalogue procurements over £4,000 • Turn all financially approved requisitions over £4,000 into effective contracts, achieving best Value For Money and mitigating commercial risk • Promoting best practice procurement practices and encouraging compliance with those • Publishing details of tenders and awarded contracts
Skills/ Experience Required
• an understanding of public procurement regulations and processes and experience in advising requirement owners on the most effective procurement routes. • undertaking operational activity, achieving value for money, whilst ensuring propriety and transparency in the process • Experience of letting contracts for a wide range of services and goods, particularly IT and professional services • Liaising and communicating with end users/budget holders and other appropriate stakeholders, to include the provision of advice and support in relation to the management of ongoing contracts • Central Government or Public Sector experience is advantageeous
Formal Qualifications Required
Full Member, or working towards, membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or equivalent
