Lead Data Base Administrator

Our client is a top FTSE 100 company, they are currently searching for a Lead Data Base Administrator to run the DBA team on a day to day basis and report into the Technical Services Manager. The Lead DBA's responsibilities are varied and encompass skills and tasks ranging from team management through to technical design.

Daily tasks will involve;

• Be the SME for all database technologies
• Lead the support & maintenance of the oracle database estate v1 0g, 11g
• Lead the support & maintenance of the SQL server database estate v2000, 2005, 2008, 2012
• Lead the support & maintenance of the weblogic v10, 11, 12 & OAS estate v10
• Manage the DBA team current and future workloads
• Ensure all HR aspects of team management are covered
• Ensure documentation is created, maintained and accurate
• Ensure that database best practices are followed during systems design and build
• Manage the monitoring & alerting for Oracle & SQL server databases
• Manage the release and Change process within the DBA arena
• Budget & Cost control
• Lead all database and application server design ensuring maximum performance of all applications
• License management responsibilities

Essential skills required to be successful for this role

• 5+ years of Database Administration - SME level
• 3+ years of managing a DBA team
• Oracle Database Administration versions 9i, 10g, 11g
• Oracle Application Server Administration versions 10gias
• Oracle Weblogic Server Administration versions 11g, 12g
• SQL server Database Administration versions 2000, 2005, 2008, 2012
• Unix knowledge - preferably AIX v6.1 +
• Server virtualisation
• RMAN
• Performance tuning
• Database design and build
• OEM - Oracle Enterprise Manager
• Strong Leadership skills
• Technical innovator
