Head of Physics

A large mixed comprehensive school based in Richmond, Surrey is seeking a Head of Physics to support the head of faculty and to deputise when and where appropriate.

THIS POSITION WILL START IN JANUARY 2013.

It is an exciting time for the school as it prepares to open a sixth form in September 2014. The science faculty attains high examination results. Two "good sciences" was in excess of 92% in 2012.

You will need to ensure provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students studying at key stages 3, 4 and 5 in accordance with the curriculum and school policies.

You should have the ability to develop appropriate syllabuses, resources , schemes of work, marking policies, assessment and teaching strategies in the faculty within the designated area.

You will be assisting in day to day management, control and operation within the faculty and to assist with monitoring and following up on students progress.

The faculty is in need of a strong leader and teacher of biology and able to develop the staff within the department, set targets, monitor and respond to needs.

You will be working with the head of faculty and the deputy head to contribute to the performance management process and to act as a team leader for a group of staff within the designated faculty and promote teamwork and to motivate staff to ensure effective working relations.

The right candidate will have proven experience within this field at a leadership level and ensure the curriculum needs are being met and to ensure maintenance of accurate and up to date information concerning KS4/5 Biology on the management information system.

You will need to undertake an appropriate programme of teaching in accordance with the duties.
