Background
We are looking to recruit a Financial Modeller to join a central government client on a contract basis. This role is based in London. The post will be in the analytical team which supports the delivery of through the production of high quality analysis to identify suitable outcomes and targets and to ensure that all contracts are analytically robust. In addition the team also undertakes modelling work to assess affordability and value for money and to help select preferred bidders for the pilot schemes.
Main Duties/ Responsibilities
The main duties of this post will be to provide specialist modelling support services to continue developing the set of models used to assess value for money of potential pilots and to assess potential bidders during competition. These models already exist but need to be customised to be suitable for each individual pilot and it will be the main duty of this post to ensure that the model is suitable for each pilot. In particular the post holder will be responsible for providing modelling support to two schemes currently under development. This will involve detailed model development work alongside more ad hoc analysis of potential solutions, management information and potential provider solutions to help advise the procurement team as to the best analytical solutions and preferred bidder. In addition the post holder may be required to provide ad hoc support to other elements of the programme.
Skills/ Experience Required
Essential: Analytical skills, in particular development of financial models using tools such as excel and VBA. Cost benefit analysis work and options appraisals. Knowledge of statistical theory and techniques. Desirable: Procurement skills in supporting procurement of large innovative projects.
