CONSULTANT SOCIAL WORKER BASED IN NORTH EAST LONDON3-6 month long contract - covering long term sicknessYou will be leading a new and innovative multi-agency unit sitting within a north East London Access and Assessment Service tasked with the rapid and thorough assessment of families presenting to the Local Authority as having No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF). Your unit will consist of social workers, a unit administrator, a legal representative and a fraud investigator. You will build on and utilise relationships between Children's Social Care and the Home Office and will undertake and supervise robust, child-centred investigative assessments to ensure that children's needs are safeguarded, that assessments explicitly address potential Human Rights challenges and that Council resources are utilised effectively. Your standard of written work and analysis must be of a very high standard as will your organisational skills and ability to develop systems to monitor and quality control casework. Your work will closely scrutinise families' circumstances and ensure that where the presenting issue is homelessness that children are not at risk from trafficking or abuse. You will be mindful of the need to avoid 'drift' and will review and progress current NRPF cases held within Children's Social Care.
