Capita Symonds Civil Engineering team have an opening for an Associate in the Rail Engineering team. The individual will have a desire to work on exciting infrastructure projects and develop their career. They would be expected to have substantial experience in all aspects of rail engineering with particular expertise in Rail Assurance.
The successful candidate would join the existing Rail Engineering team who are currently providing design services on a range of infrastructure projects in the rail sector both within the UK and internationally.

East Grinstead will be the base office but the successful candidate will need to be flexible to work from other offices (Capita Symonds and client) at times
Essential Experience/Skills:Essential

• Chartered Engineer
• Broad knowledge of all aspects of rail design including configuration management and requirements management
• Expertise in Network Rail, London Underground and Crossrail technical approval processes
• Excellent communication skills with client facing experience
• Experience of liaison with Network Rail and other industry stakeholders
• Project Management experience
• Full UK driving licence.


Desirable

• Experience of design management on major projects
• Experience of working with Contractors on design and build projects
• Managing multi-disciplinary teams
• Good working knowledge of CDM requirements
Desired Experience/Skills:The post holder will be responsible for undertaking the following duties:
• Leading on Technical Assurance on rail projects
• Providing leadership to design teams
• Mentoring and development of junior technical staff
• Working to and managing programme and budgets
• Managing relevant internal and external project communications
Personal Attributes:• Able to work on own initiative and under pressure, when necessary
• Good communicator at all levels, both orally and in writing
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Flexible, enthusiastic and willing to learn, develop and widen experience
