Electrical engineering jobs require a degree and sometimes a further degree. After time working in the industry, they have the opportunity to apply for chartered engineer status.

Electrical engineers differ from electricians in the level of training they have, and consequently the skills and job roles they enter. An electrician will be involved the installation, connection, testing and maintenance of electrical systems. Electrical engineer jobs on the other hand are responsible for the design, development, testing and manufacturer of electrical equipment. This may cross over to areas like lighting, wiring, motors and power that electricians deal with, however it is more closely involved with the creation and development of these products and systems.
