Capita Education Resourcing (CER) is committed to keeping children and young people safe. Preventing those who might wish to harm or abuse them from entering the workforce is a top priority. In line with revised guidance published by the DCSF on Safeguarding Children in Education, CER has introduced an email vetting confirmation and ID card system.

The new guidance places a responsibility on schools and FE colleges to keep a single, central record collating when checks on staff were made and by whom, including identity, qualification requirements, List 99 and Criminal Records Bureau checks.

 To help alleviate the time consuming but vital task of producing these records, CER has introduced the new email vetting confirmation system. All CER's staff are rigorously vetted before they register with us and before any staff are deployed to your school you will be provided with an email confirmation which clearly states that each check required by the DCSF has been carried out. These checks include:

• References, I.D check
• Previous employment history
• List 99/POCA Medical Fitness
• CRB Disclosure
• Qualifications & QTS, GTC status, completion of induction
• Right to work
• Overseas Criminal Records Bureau check

The email vetting confirmations provided by CER satisfy all aspects of the DCSF/OFSTED guidelines and can be used as the single, central record.

In addition to the email vetting confirmation system all CER staff are being provided with a photo ID Card which features the name, address and date of birth of the candidate. The information on the ID Card will match that on the confirmation email, therefore offering you further peace of mind when booking through Capita. 

In a recent survey conducted by CER, 90% of schools said they thought that ID badges would add to the security of children in their schools.

If you are employing new members of staff who are not from CER or you would like to renew checks on existing members of staff, CER's sister company Capita Recruitment Vetting Service (CRVS) is an Umbrella Body registered with the Criminal Records Bureau to administer CRB and all other vetting/reference checks on your behalf. CRVS will provide you with detailed evidence of all the checks conducted that will satisfy the DCSF/OFSTED guidelines and can be used as the single, central record.
